Woodbury

Money Magazine just released it’s 100 Best Places to Live list. Number eleven is Woodbury, Minnesota, the city Ali and I bought our first house in. When I read this I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Best place to live? Seriously? This is the eleventh best city the U.S. has to offer?

Woodbury is intersected by two main roads. When we lived there a couple of big box stores had started moving in, but there were still only a handful of stoplights. Now Woodbury is nothing but big box stores, like one giant mall in which you need to drive your car from one store to the next. Truly an eyesore of a city littered with so many traffic lights you’ll never get out of first gear. It’s nothing but a vast sea of Walmarts, Targets, Gaps, Best Buys, and Home Depots. In fact I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they officially changed the name to Woodbury – brought to you by Home Depot.

And while I might want to shop at all of these stores, I can’t imagine a place I’d less rather live. Maybe it’s just me. I think the American dream has been ruined for me.

Now, on a completely different note, we are going to be in Minnesota in October. If anyone wants to get together at TGI Fridays, Applebees, or Chipotle, just let us know. We can meet you up on Radio Drive in Woodbury.
