Volcan San Pedro

Hiking Volcano San Pedro seemed like it would be a fun way to spend the day, and it was.

We really enjoyed having Chavo around for a couple of weeks, and were very happy to be able to send him off to a new life in a loving home instead of on the streets. The people at Unidos Para Los Animales are really fantastic, even in the face of what must sometimes feel like a losing battle. Ali is trying to raise a bit of money for them so they can continue doing what they are doing. If you enjoyed the Chavo story, please consider heading over to GoFundMe to donate a little bit to the rescue.

  1. Looks like another Gorgeous place, is it strange for a cornfield to be way up on a Mt??? The tire swing looked like an awesome time. I’ve never stopped loving to swing, sometimes my backside doesn’t fit so well but, I still go for it,
Loving watching all of your adventures! What kind of cool animals do they have there?
Please send a new postcard when you get time. I love my collection.
I moved a few months ago, (new address removed by bumfuzzle.com)
You’re always in my thoughts, Love you guys?

    1. Yes the corn up the volcano side was very weird. Coffee plants as well. Hard work for the farmers for sure. We didn’t see any animals around Lake Atitlan (but many dogs and cats) but the sign for the hike showed armadillos, snakes, cougars(?), and many birds. Will definitely send some postcards soon! Miss you!

  2. Beautiful!
Amazing photos that capture it. Great job.
I love your blog by the way.
I’ve been following since catamaran days. Very few photos back then.

    1. Thanks, Colleen. Yes we’ve even looked back through our photos to see if there were any we could add in – nope none. The internet was so different/hard back then, we had to drag our heavy, huge laptop to actual internet cafes and hope we could plug in with one of their landlines. No wifi. Wow has it changed.

  3. Hi guys, Being a multihull lover I started following you way back there. As a now retired Firefighter from Seattle I cringe seeing you guys have so much fun on the rope swing. In my 30 years as a FF I have been to two rope disasters. One resulted in a broken back and the other passed away. I know you guys are pretty skookum regarding that sort of thing but be sure to check that all is squared away and not worn or rusted etc. For ropes animals will often chew on the top near the branch and leave no obvious damage from below.
    Love the stories and pictures
    Jerry
