Here in Vava’u there is always a new anchorage nearby to explore. It was nice to find one to anchor in shallow water again, though the holding was pretty poor. Fortunately, there was hardly any wind to contend with.
We went out with a few friends for our first scuba dive in Tonga at a spot called Little Knob. The ocean comes up quickly from a few hundred feet onto a “knob” that reaches as close as 17′ to the surface. We dove around the area in a circle staying around 60′ deep. It wasn’t too spectacular, but as always it was just nice to be in the water diving. Unfortunately, it was cold. Very cold by our standards. Lowe has a wetsuit, but Ouest has outgrown hers and I’ve never had one. We’ve become so accustomed to tropical temperatures that it didn’t even cross our minds we might be cold out here in the South Pacific waters.
The cold was starting to set in by this point. Time to call it a day.
Snorkeling the shallows around the boat.
