Tombstone is one of many places in the world that owes its current existence to one historical event, even though a lot happened in Tombstone in a short period of time. Riches were discovered, people rushed in, riches were exploited, people rushed out. If not for the shootout at the OK Corral, it’s highly unlikely many tourists would be stopping here today. But, thanks to the movie by the same name, a generation of guys like me can’t resist the place.
Unschooling at its finest. Gambling and Debauchery 101.
Gotta give credit to the Sam Elliott lookalike. He even took a shot at the voice.
Turning back the clock a few years.
Our kids don’t ever get soda, so a bottle of Sarsaparilla was quite a treat. It also caused a seemingly excessive amount of burning burps.
The Boot Hill Cemetery is a worth a visit. The handy pamphlet explains how a good number of the dead came to be there. Even if there is some embellishment, it’s still safe to say that Tombstone was not a place where you died peacefully. Ouest met her end over a mining claim dispute.

I am so glad that you let your kids play ” cowboys and indians” like I did as a kid in the UK I loved my cap gun.
Fantastic Post. 🙂
What a cool family trip, happy new years! 3 winter’s ago, we drove down from Alaska and spent the winter in Arizona, ran around all over AZ, including Tombstone and Bizby, what a great time. I probably wasn’t the only hombre packing real heat in that town!
If they’d have put a black coat and hat on you, Pat, you would have fit right in with the shoot out group.
As a fan of the old west I visited Tombstone like once a week for the month I hung out in Cochise AZ in 2019. Interesting place if you enjoy history.
