Getting so close now. We left the shed yesterday, after many cold weeks of work. Driving down the road it felt like a new bus. Looking in that rear view mirror I couldn’t help but smile. Many thanks to one of our biggest supporters and friend, Mike, for rearranging his collection of boats to make room for us.
We are absolutely cranking on the project list so we can get out of here on our date. Today we took a big step forward when our couches and chairs came back. Sweet. They turned out better than we could have hoped. This is a project that probably wouldn’t have gotten done if not for our wide ranging web of Bum friends.
After they got here I spent a few hours getting everything lined up and bolted down once again. Also slapped up a bunch of trim work. Still a long way to go on that front, but progress is being made.

Awesome seats, they look great!
They sure look very nice, but… looking at pics it appears to be some sort of vinyl. May be a hell of a sweaty ride in warmer climes.
Are you planning to paint the exterior?
No. Remember this thing hasn’t even been washed yet. Needs a good cleaning and a buffer and it’ll shine up pretty nice I think.
No seat belts up front? what about the Ouest & Lowe, do they free roam or get strapped in?
This is not the finished product.
It looks fantastic – you can really see all the work you’ve put into the bus.
Wow! She, are RVs she’s too, looks awesome. Hit the road Bums, it’s time! Xoxo
Looks great! Your drive and determination is inspiring. Do you have a route planned when you leave?
Looks great love the seats let us know if you swing through Houston will crank up the grill and the kids can spent their time in the pool
WOW..lookin good..still want black with flames..hot rod style..or maybe a Grateful Dead theme..:)!!!
Holy Crap dude!
Those seats are BEAUTIFUL! Makes me want to reupholster everything. I seriously can’t believe how far you’ve taken that RV in such a short time. Inspirational and exactly how I would probably do it. Kill yourself doing it now so you can enjoy it for the next however many years. We did the same thing. 🙂

WOW..great job on the upholstery and the woodwork. Can hardly wait to see the RV all polished up.
Outstanding vision & execution….looks amazing….as stated previously it will be interesting to see the bus when washed & buffed….
That’s one sexy bus!!!! The seats are amazing! Can’t wait to start reading the next chapter!
As a parent, the first thing I thought of was “Good thinking- so much easier to clean barf off those seats” and then….ummm where will the kids be strapped in safely?
Wow,looks great! Hope you do a video when it is finished.
Hah, I’ve been lurking on y’alls site for several years now, watching your adventures from afar. I ran into Mike (Magic) in Bayfield last summer when I was up taking an ASA class and we talked about you guys.
Congrats on your rolling home, the bus looks great! Thanks for telling us about your adventures, it helps inspire the rest of us to get out and have adventures of our own!
Beautiful work! Spring is here~Time to roll!
That is looking very, very nice! It’s really nice right now here in Quartzsite, AZ! We are having solar installed Monday! Whoot, whoot!
Hey, you gave the bus a shave – no more ‘stache! The interior is looking gorgeous.
Gorgeous! So excited for you guys!
Your ability to organize, execute and see a project through to completion is inspiring. I still have pieces of exterior trim missing on my house I “finished” 15 years ago!
Smiling from ear to ear right now-Fantastic work! Cannot wait to see the outside after washed and buffed up. From personal experience, agree exterior will polish up nicely after getting some more oxidation removed. Where did you ever find such a cool bus?!
Lookin good! Great work on the bus. Just curious, is there some pressure on the date? So uncruiserlike…is there another window?
Pressure on the date is self-imposed. If there is no date it is all too easy to put it off forever. We’re taking off, finished or not.
