Nothing is super convenient in Christiansted, so pretty much every weekend we rent a car for a day. We’ve got a schedule now. Saturday we pick the car up at eleven and spend the afternoon doing something fun. Cane Bay is a popular spot for us. It’s not the best stretch of sand on the island, but it’s a fun place to spend a few hours. The next morning Ali and I haul the week’s laundry to the laundromat, and hit up the grocery store. Return the car just in time, and our twenty-four hours of car ownership is complete.
We may live on the ocean, but that doesn’t mean we know everything about it. Some things we have to learn the hard way. As a family we seem to have a knack for playing with things that leave a rash. Spanish Moss encounters come to mind. Lowe was goofing around with the Sargassum seaweed and spent the next few days with a beauty of a rash on his neck and chest.
Feet cleaning duty. Wonder how big they’ll be before I no longer have to carry them to the car with their sand free feet.
Right across the street from the beach this place cooks up a pretty good fish reuben. Rocking chairs, a cold beer, and roaming peacocks make for a nice lunch.
Always fun to be swimming around and stumble across a turtle resting under some coral.
