Life is running at a pretty easy pace around here right now. Some quiet mornings on the boat, followed by snorkeling and playing on the beach in the afternoons, and hanging out with friends in the evening.
Ouest painted rock phones for the family, which led to some pretty funny calls.
There are two monkeys who live around the marina. They are total troublemakers, but are also pretty dang friendly, and always come down to say hi and grab a bite to eat.
All the lobster on the island seem to have found this one small area of reef where they are protected.
As have a lot of other creatures.
White Sea Urchin are scattered around the sea grass.
The reef snorkeling over here on French Cay is really shallow—most of the time no deeper than five feet.
The wood trim around the bottom of the shower was rotting when we bought the boat. I did what I could, but it’s pretty clear that it needs to be torn out and redone. At this point I’m just trying to keep it from leaking and getting into the wood floors outside the shower. Seems like a great job for the woodworkers in Guatemala.
Agoutis are all over the island.
Between the monkeys, the chickens, and the agoutis, no food scraps go to the garbage can here.
A friend of a new friend generously flew in with our water pump, so the boat is ready to go again. Now we’re just kicking back and watching the weather before making a move. The wind has been howling out of the east for a month steady now.

Looks like a highly pleasant place to hang. Is the heat becoming oppressive as the summer kicks in?
Yes the heat is here, with showers most days. Summertime!
I really enjoy the pics and stories. Your children are getting so big. May all of us adults never age 🙂
Hi Been watching you folks since you travelled around the world on your cat. . .amazing that the kids are getting so old. . .do you official home school using a program or just “life teach” as the occasion arises. . .never heard you mention
Wow, two comments in a row saying our kids are getting so big and old. We are currently unschooling (life teach, passion driven education). Nope you wouldn’t hear us mention it even if we were boat/home schooling them. To each their own, and our way isn’t for everyone, and their way might not be for us.
What a wonderful place to be.
i read of your first years of sailing and the costs, about $3,000 a month, how did you fund these costs? and buy the catamaran?
Savings from working.
