Quiet day. We went up to the malecón this morning because on Sundays the police block off half the road for pedestrians to use. The sidewalk itself is huge, but we thought the kids would get a kick out of playing in the street. As we arrived at nine the police were lifting the barricade. Apparently we’ve got to get up pretty early in the morning to participate in that fun. It also turned out to be one of the hottest mornings we remember, so we made our way back to the plaza to sit in the shade and feed pigeons. Because that’s what we do.
As for that thing on Ouest’s head in the pics below—that’s some sort of dress-up headband that was mixed in amongst her things. She pulled it on this morning and announced, “I look so pretty!” Neither of us had the heart to tell her otherwise.

Did you realize that Ouest’s headband is in the style of Frida Kahlo?
It hadn’t occurred to me, but now that you say it I’d say you are spot on. I stick to my assessment of it as a fashion statement however. 🙂
OK I’ll bite, who is Frida Kahlo???
That’s Spanish for fried kale.
Now you’re just being mean! 🙂
I was just messing around. 🙂 Frida Kahlo is a Mexican artist famous for her self-portraits, prints of which are hanging all over Mexico.
I think Ouest looks beautiful and very happy with her hair accessory. Hey, she’s a girl – it’s a fashion statement. I also think you guys are great for letting her do her own thing, she will surely end up with her own style and continued self confidence as she grows up.
