We boogied down the coast and got to Santa Barbara just in time for our meet-up with Ali’s parents. Somehow Ali and I have always managed to miss Santa Barbara. After one day I have to say that we’re really enjoying the place. The weather is gorgeous, the boardwalk is fun, the beaches are nice, there are two easy to navigate main strips with all the restaurants you could ever need, and the RV park is just two miles down the road. We’ve been won over pretty easily.
Boots. Grandma is here.
Ouest has one big wish at the moment. She’s actually been talking about it for a few months now. See if you can guess what it is.
Note: the dinosaur reference is for a model dinosaur. She is such a girly girl.

I Thought that Ouest was a girlie girl?
Ouest wears a lot of pink, but I don’t think she’d qualify in any way as a girlie-girl.
We also loved Santa Barbara when we visited on our way to Mexico back in 2010 and pulled our boat into the marina. When we called the marina to ask if they had room, the guy who answered said, “You bet, just pull into the waiting dock and bring your boat papers and a big bag of money up to the office”. Turned out it wasn’t that bad but permanent moorage is so expensive as to be totally unbelievable. But what a great town to visit. Lulu was impressed when she saw a City worker polishing the Pedestrian Crossing pushbuttons.
Lulu will be even more impressed when she finds out that the City worker was actually disinfecting the pedestrian crossing buttons after someone reported people pushing on them with their bare hands 🙂
Could a marina be located any better? It’s right there in the heart of it.
Just loving your pictures and stories about your travels…..Watching your kidlets grow is the best!!!Just wondering if you’re missing sailing at all? Right now hubby and I are on our way driving to La Cruz for the winter….can’t wait…..Marilyn
Not a bit. Not yet anyway. Ali and I seem to go through phases, and we rarely get hung up on the past. Some day a boat will draw us in again, but for now it isn’t even on our radar. Maybe we’ll see you down south.
Greetings from Southport,
Your children are an equal mix of innocence and confidence. You have given them a most remarkable gift.
Bob
Thanks, Bob. You are exactly right too—innocent and confident I think are probably two of the best words to describe these two.
Check out the muscles in Ouest’s legs! All that hiking is awesome for you guys. Wow, no kidding about the pumpkin patch.
I was thinking the same thing about Ouest’s muscles. I am willing to bet that she will end up hitting the surf on Pat’s board before Santa delivers the skateboard 🙂
I went to college there at UCSB. One of my favorite places in the world…mountains, beaches, great weather, whats not to love. If money was no object that is where I would live!
Al! A lot of people comment about grammy but I’m a big fan of Al. I can tell he’s a no nonsense kind of guy. Let him know he has a fan. I’m sure he doesn’t read blogs or facebook or any of this other nonsense. Maybe he does, but I doubt it. Here’s to Al!
