We scored a spot in Salt Pond Bay and spent a couple days enjoying the turtles and the hike up Ram Head Trail out to the point. The boat was a happily scattered mess of wet swimsuits, snorkels, and paddleboards.
Here’s what a 42′ Grand Banks trawler looks like next to a 54′ catamaran.
Remembering our steamy mid-day June hike up Ram Head last time, we set off a little earlier this time.

That can’t be Ouest standing next to Ali?!
Safe to say she won’t have to look up to see eye-to-eye much longer.
Kids seeing eye-to-eye with their parents?
So with all these catamarans around do you still regret giving up the Bumfuzzle 1?
We’re Lagoon owners and bought it from following your adventures.
Regret? We’ve never regretted selling the catamaran.
thought the same thing as bill. “ali must have a relative visiting or something.”
Did you take the little side trail past the actual salt pond? It takes you to a rocky wild coastline. People make words and statues and funny things from all the coral, rocks, shells and sea vegetation washed up on shore. It’s a silly thing most of us do just for laughs.
Also, try snorkeling at Lamshur and Haulover North if you can.
Yeah, that trail past the salt pond is what leads to the rocky beach and ultimately up to the top of Ram Head. Unless you mean a different trail?
Yes, there’s a small level trail off to the left that skirts around the salt pond (not the Bay) and leads to the other coastline. do a drone fly-over or a Google maps view. it’s kind of a must-do for all visitors. And the kids can be creative!
What a life!
Great happy shot of Ali!
I guess you have already heard about the tourist who died after having her leg torn off by a shark off St Martin.
Take care. John
Wow, no we hadn’t heard. Very uncommon from the report I read, more likely to happen in the Bahamas (and more likely where more cruising boats go). Again it’s an odds game, and a one-off incident it sounds like.
