After a couple of days in the city we went off in search of some nature. Not far from Reno is Pyramid Lake. It’s sort of like boondocking on the beach, with the difference being the $15 a day fee for non-tribe members attached. But like a gift, we found a pile of firewood left behind that pretty much covered our permit fee.
It took the kids about two minutes after arrival to begin digging “Horseshoe Bend.”
Cutthroat trout fishermen lined up. The fish were once thought to be extinct, but these guys are still pulling out 25 pounders.
We love pelicans—the big clumsy looking dopes.
Lately, we never know what kind of weather we’re going to get.
Pyramid Lake’s pyramid.

We used to run the North Nevada Rally over and around the mountains north of Pyramid Lake. Awesome dirt roads for rally cars and great places to camp. Looks like fun!

Ah the bumfuzzles are so close to the site where Burning Man is held! You should put that event on your list!
It’s been on our list for a few years, the timing just hasn’t worked out to make it happen.
Oh, I hope it works out someday. I think your family would absolutely love it. It’s prob one of the few places that would blow your kids’ minds after the cool life you have given them. There is no place on earth like it (and I’ve been around. ?).
A wonderful bird is the pelican
Can hold more in it’s beak than it’s belly can
And I don’t know how in the hell it can.
Gosh – the photo of Ouest and Lowe where Lowe is squatting…looks like it’s posed in front of a movie backdrop. What a fabulous place to hangout!
In the southwest, we order those clouds for the tourists who want to take pictures. I know you are in Nevada but Arizona also has special clouds that look wonderful in pictures. Love all your pictures and look forward to seeing new posts every day.
