There are over a million books for sale in the Kindle format, so to say I’m pretty excited about cracking into the top 1000 would be a major understatement.
We sailed (err, motored) over to Yelapa today. Yelapa is a small town accessible only by water. We grabbed a mooring in the deep bay and went ashore. We spent the day on the beach playing with the resident puppy, and just strolling up along the river. The river was only shin high so Lowe was able to charge right through it. The kid loves the water. He was laughing and jumping in on his belly the whole walk.
About the time we decided to call it a day some clouds moved over and the wind picked up. In no time the bow of the boat was dipping in the water and the swell had crept up to make the boat roll all over the place. In short, it was miserable.
When our water taxi driver brought us back out to the boat (Yelapa is a rough beach landing with a swell running) he asked, “Do you have a TV?”
“No.”
With a look of utter disbelief across his face he asked in all sincerity, “What do you do for fun?”
That’s the state of the world we live in I guess. I mean, what could there possibly be to do without TV?
I forgot to mention, our TackTick wireless wind and depth instruments are no longer working. These things SUCK! A boat owner should never have to wonder if these simple instruments will be working when they press the power button. They just should. Yet, with these I find myself holding my breath every time they come on. Today, after five months of being turned off, I got nothing, just blank dashes across the screen. No input apparently. No reason for that to be either. If you’ll remember these didn’t work while we were in San Francisco either. I would never buy these again. I see they’re owned by Raymarine now, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of customer service I get. Will it be the one redeeming quality of these things?
