Even we need to set aside “beach days” now and then. Well, not really, but occasionally we do have to take ourselves to a different beach than the one right outside our door. Down on the south end of the malecón there are always kite sellers. They make the kites by hand, even stitching the plastic with thread around the stick down the middle. Fifty pesos (about $2.50).
The waterfront here is beautiful, but somehow the best stretch of it still has buildings like this one sitting on it. Our favorite part of this stretch of the beach is that there are a dozen small shack restaurants selling ceviche and cheap beer.
And of course there is always a Mango Man and two willing and eager mouths to feed.
We hiked up to the lighthouse for about the millionth time. It’s pretty cool just how heavily trafficked the path up is, especially on a Sunday morning. We thought we were pretty crazy getting ourselves out there at 7:30, but apparently people get up and get going even earlier than that. To exercise!
This one is from Lowe.
And one from Ouest.
Icebergs.
Followed by breakfast and a stroll around Old Town.
Of course, pigeons. There is a new OXXO (convenience store) across the street from the plaza, which means that Ouest is now able to get money, cross the street herself, and buy her own bags of rice. She is feeling like quite the grown-up.

They are both starting to look very grown up. Taller, the baby faces gone.
Loved the icebergs… haaa… and your kid could probably sell me a used Honda … with just his stance.
I do agree,I’ve been following your blog for awhile now. Your children are growing up fast enjoy every day because before you know it they will not be kids any more! Love your photography. I can’t seeing life getting any better than it is in Mexico for you guys.
It’s now politically incorrect to feed rice to birds in the U.S. I was chastised at a wedding recently for suggesting that we throw rice. I was told “oh no, you can’t throw rice, the birds will eat it and it’s very dangerous for them.” We had to throw bird seed. I’ve gotta move to Mexico before Trump builds the wall and I’m trapped here.
”I’ve gotta move to Mexico before Trump builds the wall and I’m trapped here.” I love it. I wish I had a shirt with this on it.
Absolutely the best shirt idea I’ve heard in a year.

I love that Oeste buys the rice!
