Lowe puked on Thursday. I followed suit on Sunday. And seven days after Lowe, Ouest let loose all over my dad’s kitchen floor. This, as far as I’m concerned, is Minnesota in winter. The place is hell—froze over. In the past two weeks we’ve spent less than an hour outdoors, conducted in thirty-second blow zero bursts between the car and the door of whatever shopping or eating establishment will be taking our money that day. Ugh, I just can’t deal with winter any more.
Of course I hate to complain about it because it’s where our families choose to live. Being a whiner doesn’t sit well with those who see nothing wrong with the weather. And being a whiner makes me sound ungrateful for the hospitality, which I’m not. I love our families, I’m just pretty sure they are all out of their minds.
Ouest lost her third tooth in the space of a week. When she eats now it is out of the side of her mouth, which leaves a food stain from her lips to her left ear.
Dreaming of warmer weather.
Serpent.
Somehow Ali manages to avoid illness despite being the one most immersed in it.
We were here to watch this guy turn another year older. The kids were happy, as usual, for homemade cupcakes.

Hi Guys, Sorry you’ve been ill. Some nasty bugs going around Phuket now as well. I grew up in a desert and have never experienced a winter in my life. I probably have a romantic notion of what winter is and plan to let it overcome me one year. Great pics! Speedy recovery!
Yep, nuts to live where the temps dip in to subzero numbers.
Hope you get to feeling better. We spent some time in Minnesota and were amazed how the people there loved the snow. I guess you have or else one would go insane. It wasn’t for us. Sunny and 70 in St.Pete FL today. A good day for a sail!

You’re not whining, run for the dang border!
Remind me again, why the hell did I return from Costa Rica in February?
It was worth it to see you guys……i’m sticking with that story.
It’s like I always said when I lived in Wash DC, bitter cold with snow but no place to go skiing. Winter is fantastic when you can drive to it in a few hours to ski then return to the coast and go surfing the next day.
My mother’s family were farmers in Elk River MN; the Washburn family.
Serpent… Awesome.
I will never have the opportunity to travel the world like you. Never, never, never. Most people on planet earth live in big poverty, so i don`t want to worry about my live.
I am a well qualified, hard worker with three weeks free days per year. But my incoming is a little bit above the monthly payments i have to do. And i work in a high tech industry. The leaders of the companys now understand the ugly face of capitalism very well. Reality in East Germany, 25 Years after the wall fell. So there is no possibility to leave Europe for travelling, i can`t pay for an adventure. And i love travelling. Hard for me, but i think of the many people, living in poverty on this beautiful and amazing planet.
So thanks a lot for the many impressions of your journeys. And of course, it is very nice to see your children growing up with intelligent und pleasant parents like you. They will get as positive like Pat and Ali. Great.
But think about one thing:
Making money at the stock exchange always comes from the workers, which don`t get the money they are working for.
Companys want to see a growing stock for their stockholders, so remember:
Making fast money at the stock always comes from a worker, which ears less money every year. There is a balance in economy. If one man is rich, another works for his live of decadence. There will be always privileged classes and non privileged classes. So enjoy your live in decadence.
Think about it!
Chris
Wow Chris, woe is me…..of all the responses Im thinking of, one comes to mind.
Instead of saying I CANT. Try saying HOW CAN I. Work toward what you want. Maybe you or one of your friends has a car, get some of you together and do a modest roadtrip to anywhere….. The First Step is The Hardest. put a smile on your face, And go with no expectations then there is no disappointment.Theres a big world out there.
can relate at beach n fl fanly n mnn
I’m sorry for laughing but, you live in Mexico, drink the water, eat from sidewalk stands and your fine! Come back to the frozen tundra of Minnesota and Whamo! By the way, I’m south of you by Owatonna and am scheming to escape from here also.
Pat and Ali just think 11 years ago you were in the Bahamas…snorkeling, spear fishing, feeding the pigs, etc. I took a peak back in time and enjoyed the blue Caribbean waters.
Pat, I just got done watching a movie on Netflix that I thought you might enjoy. I know you are not really into watching movies but, this one dedicates much of the movie to a Dodge Travco that looks much like yours. If you get a chance to check it out I think you would like it. It’s called “Barefoot”.
I’m in complete agreement about the weather. There hasn’t been a day without snow until this past week for us since we left out from our last sometime in the PNW. Now we are warm (mostly) and happy in our snug little boat and NO SNOW! Not sure what induced us to accept a dedicated run in February in New England but we’re happy that’s over!
Complaining about the weather. Ever wonder why Ali’s parents visit you in Mexico so much?
