This is what happens whenever I’m away. Not this specifically, but things just like this. Ali was out to eat with her parents and Lowe the other morning when they met this dog. She attached herself to Ali and followed them the twelve blocks home, in a taxi. By the time they got home Ali felt bad—worried that the dog would now be lost. Before long she was on the internet looking for the nearest shelter where she could get the dog fixed and adopted.
They all went out for a walk a little later though, and as street dogs tend to do, she lingered behind and eventually disappeared. I assured Ali that she didn’t get lost and beat up in her new neighborhood, but instead trotted right back up the street to Olas Altas beach. Ali then asked if we could go out for breakfast—and was only half kidding.
Lowe is going through a blueberry stage at the moment.
We went to the Bosque de la Ciudad today. The sprawling city park that has just about the strangest assortment of, well, everything, that a park could have. When we first got there we fed leaves to a couple of caged up deer. Then we walked by a donkey on our way to one of the many play areas. This one included sign language how-to instructions. We left there and wandered past a leopard on our way to the train engine. We spun around the broken merry-go-round and then climbed into the airplane. Eventually the kids climbed around on some more playground equipment. Ouest announced that she wanted to play on the still rings more tomorrow—when she thinks we will return—and then we called it a morning.
We watched these young guys doing Parkour for a while. They were having a blast, and capturing all the action on their point-and-shoot.
It’s all fun and games until…
Ouest has to dress up for a thing at school again tomorrow. This is like the hundreth time in two months if I remember correctly. What you don’t see in this picture is the needle and thread in my hand.

Pilgrim costume?
Nice action shot of Lowe! Poor guy.
The price he will pay for many years to come probably—being the younger sibling trying to keep up.
So why black day and what about the pilgrim costume?
Black Day still has us baffled. Never got an answer on that one. Today they celebrated Parade of Flags Day. Ouest made a flag and dressed up in American garb. Of course since the US doesn’t have any sort of official costume (insert joke here) we resorted to the Pilgrim.
The look on that leopards face makes me want to cry. He looks so unhappy. He should be running in the jungle, not in that little cage. Just sayin’.
There’s a whole host of animals in that park that should be euthanized and put out of their misery.
