Tiki Tuhiva overlooking those of us anchored in Taioha’e Bay. This statue stands on a small hill right above the bay behind the pier. Another beautiful spot to just sit and enjoy the island that’s surrounding us.
Photo credits to Lowe for the next few shots.
I’ve mentioned the dogs here on Nuku-Hiva. It doesn’t take long at all for our family to become their best friends. This is Shorty. She hangs with us every afternoon.
Attempting to fix the freezer. First step, cleaning the big mess that the thawed meat made in the bottom. Behind that is our “catch-all” room. Also, looks like our boat is starting to carry as much pet food on it as it is people food, despite the fact that our only pet is a hamster.
Fortunately, the freezer fix was as simple as the first refrigerator. Once again, the thermostat probe just wasn’t in the right spot. Simple fix, and a huge difference in power consumption.
Lowe is always soaring around the boat.
Another day. When we walk off the pier area onto the main street, we hang a left and walk a few hundred yards to the store and then to this spot that we hang out at each day. Today we walked onto the main street and both Shorty and Old Man were laying across the road watching a cruiser do a sail repair in the parking lot there. Old Man looked over at us, lifted himself slowly off the ground, and started trotting over. Shorty noticed him, saw where he was going, and followed. Old Man whimpered as we said hello and then we all headed down the road together.
Here they are just keeping an eye on the kids as they look through the tide pools.
Then they walk us back to the dinghy dock. We say goodbye, and tell them we’ll see them tomorrow.
Despite naming our boat Bumfuzzle and being tagged with the nickname, “The Bums,” CNBC still tracked me down. If you’d like to trade/invest, and talk about boats and traveling at the same time, then Wanderer Financial is where you should be.

Nice piece n CNBC. I’ll be it brought you some traffic. Best wishes for you all.
That photo with shorty lying around with a couple of birds in the picture… they’re both chickens right? For a moment I was like “what kind of bird is that with a square head?!” 🤪
So glad to read the fridge and freezer problem is getting solved😊
haha, those are chickens with their heads buried in coconut shells.
HA! HA! I thought they were some rare exotic bird-too funny! Congratulations on your claim to fame with CNBC! Hope it brings you even greater success!
And how wonderful that the 2nd fix of the freezer was just as simple as the first-YAY!
Enjoyed Lowe’s photos as much as your own. 🙂 Lovely to visit the islands with you all! Have fun!
Thanks, Gail! Fixing and feeding the dogs, not bad days.
