Bumfuzzle Sailing Dinghy

After a few weeks we rolled back out of St. John back on over to St. Thomas. North side to Magens Bay. We passed many gazillions of dollars worth of homes along the way. I wonder how many of them just house housekeepers fifty-one weeks a year?

Magens is a huge bay. The megayachts were lined up on one side, so we found ourselves a quiet spot on the other. We didn’t do anything for days other than play on the water—sailing, SUPing, swimming, and skurfing.

    1. Yes, the kids are ready for some new toys for the water. We were testing out the power to see what we could do next season for wake boarding fun.

Back on Minnesota lakes when I was young I remember water skiing, knee boarding, and tubbing behind our boat – and yelling “HIT IT!” when the slack was out of the line and I was ready. Now Lowe yells, “9.9!” when he is ready (our dinghy motor speed).

  1. Pat and Ali, I wanted to share an idea with you.

I’ve almost written this many times, but that Opti drone photo pushed me over the edge.

You’ve written about how the kids love finding coins and earning money.

Have you ever thought about setting up a Shutterstock account for them, and teaching them how to sell photography?

It’s so much fun to see photos randomly sold and used around the world, and little cash deposits building up. I will not spam your site with my affiliate link, but if you decide you might like to do this, I highly recommend it. It’s really fun, and it’s encouraged me to learn more about photography, marketing, and different subjects.

If you’re open to this idea, please let me know becuase there are a few tricks and other ideas I’d like to share. But, I don’t want to write a book here, especially if you’re not interested, which would be fine, too.

As always, thanks for your updates and your inspiration!

    1. That will not be happening. Driving a trawler (our home) around to make wake for the kids afternoon fun. Yeah-no.

But we are looking into other set-ups for the dinghy – including maybe a 15 hp that would probably do the trick for a few years.

  2. I was thinking the same thing. Could you wake surf behind the trawler? Has to kick up a pretty good wake. Would be a super fun thing to intro the kids to. I know my kids have loved wakeboarding and are about the same age as your kiddos. But then again, can’t imagine it would cheap on gas to wakesurf behind the trawler either. Or why wake surf, when you can regular surf……

    1. Yes, see my comment above – yeah-no. Definitely seeing what we can change up for afternoon fun next season. So many good water toys out right now – but some with big price tags and storage.
