Lowe’s third birthday began with wet gray skies, and ended the same. None of which affected the party itself. The morning started off with balloon mayhem, as usual, moved on to Play-Doh for a while, and then the cupcakes came out. That’s when we discovered that Lowe has no idea how to blow. None at all. He couldn’t even make the candles flicker. Fortunately Ouest was there and was more than willing to chip in.
We got a couple of toys this year, largely because Ouest was so excited about picking out and buying her gifts for him. She got him a Transformer and a fire truck.
The rain stopped for a bit so we got out on the beach and spent thirty seconds spraying silly string at each other, then I spent thirty minutes picking it up. The rocket stomper was a hit as well. In no time the kids were fighting over whose turn it was and pretty soon Ouest was in time-out and one of the rockets was busted. Good times.
When the rain returned we resorted to desperate measures and turned the afternoon into a movie day. Toy Story. One. Kids loved it, we relaxed, and another birthday comes to a close.
We measured Lowe today—39 ½ inches. Exactly the same height as Ouest on her third.
Anyway, happy birthday Lowe. You’re a good kid. A reserved, independent kid, with a wild streak and a propensity for mischief. Perfect.
