Prepare yourself for a whole bunch of pictures of a lone rock.
We knew it was supposed to be windy, but when we got out to Lone Rock Beach, just a few miles outside of Page, on the banks of Lake Powell, we found ourselves in the midst of a Saharan style sandstorm.
Chasing tumbleweed. They wanted that piece for a bonfire. That stuff goes up like it was bathed in gasoline—kids love it.
I’d estimate the water at about 50 degrees. It was take-your-breath-away and shut-down-your-body cold. It was New Zealand summer water temperature cold. Both of these kids went for it, eventually. I couldn’t be left out.
Sandstorm protection.
You can’t even walk the beaches here without shoes on.
Even knowing how cold it would be this time, they charged in again.

Love the family photo! Safe travels.
I have been following your blog since the catamaran days and it has been such a pleasure to read all of the adventures you have had. I saw your pictures of Antelope Canyon, and my daughter, her friend and I drove out last Friday because of them!!! Thank you for sharing your lives, I always smile when I see a new post.
Thank you for that. I hope you all had a great time.
Picture perfect as usual. What a life!
Just met your mom Linda poolside in Vegas! Envious does not begin to describe how I feel about your freedom! Kudos and blessings for the life you have created!!!!
Pat …. Waddya saying about our kiwi summers …. A water temp of 24 degrees is warm, 26 is just about too hot, y’all need a shower to cool off after swimming in that. Blue and wrinkly is a good healthy colour for swimmers to be.
Hey, I went surfing in Invercargill without a wetsuit, so I know what I’m talking about. 🙂 Blue and wrinkly is an apt description.
