This is home for the moment as we wait patiently for hurricane season to fade away. We’re sitting just a few slips away from where we brought Lowe home from the hospital on Bumfuzzle 2. It’s funny how hurricane holes can become like a second home for cruisers. It’s a nice place, and convenient, but if there was no such thing as hurricanes it’s unlikely we’d ever be here more than a few days.
Día de la Independencia always involves a parade, no matter which town in Mexico we happen to be at the time. We headed for downtown Puerto Vallarta early and quickly found a nice spot to sit and watch the festivities.
The parade was supposed to start at ten, but by eleven we were starting to wonder what was going on. The crowd on the sunny side of the street was regretting their decision and slowly thinning out to find any available space on our side. It was only later that we realized we were actually sitting at the very end of the parade route and that it actually had started on time.
This old lady showed up late, walked right into the street and plopped her chair in front of Ouest. She was enthusiastic.

The parades always follow a similar script. Military, police, military school children, parade princess, and at the end come the Mexican Charros.
