Grand Falls is about 30 minutes out of Flagstaff on Indian land. There are no road signs at all along the dirt roads out there, and no railings along the canyon wall when you get there. And it’s taller than Niagara Falls. Awesome. It’s been dry and cold, so there wasn’t much water running today, but it was still beautiful, and the kids had a blast. We hiked down to the bottom where the kids found a lean-to someone had made, and proceeded to spend an hour playing house next to the pool while Ali and I sat in the sun and enjoyed the view.
It’s always a good feeling when you’re putting the kids to bed at night and they tell you without prompting that they, “had a lot of fun today.”

This is when you know you are doing it right.
Magnificent photos and no rattlers, huh? We’re hoping to be out there this summer.
No, we have yet to encounter any snakes. Not for lack of trying on the kids’ part.
Those low water bridges are always fun to drive across.
Spectacular!
That’s quite a magic trick that Ouest has perfected there, Pat . . . her transformation into an old fence post and back again is amazing!
And no, no snakes up on the Mogollon Rim this time of year – way too cold for that. It’s even been chilly here in the southwest corner of AZ the past few days. Hard to believe that February saw many 90° days, with the first 90° daily high arriving almost exactly a month earlier this year than the previous record.
