What do you know, the kids are old enough to go on a hike without being carried the entire way. We set out on a three-mile hike to Gorman Falls this morning in really cold weather, which was actually sort of nice. The kids had a nice time tromping down the paths asking a million and one questions. Honestly, Ouest doesn’t stop talking these days. And Lowe is now parroting everything anybody says—which is really stinking cute.
Anyway, you’d think we would have put two and two together and realized that the trickle of a river we played in yesterday was not going to be fed by a raging waterfall, it was going to be fed by a low-flow shower-head of a waterfall. Let’s just say the payoff was not nearly as dramatic as the postcard picture. But hey, it was nice to get out and walk and explore with the kids.
After the hike we just sort of set off in the bus with no particular destination. We figured we’d stumble across something. We were wrong. Well not entirely, we did stumble across this crappy little RV Park on the highway. We got the primo spot for the night so we could perform our RV bodily functions, i.e. dump out the holding tank, fill up the water tank, and soak up some electricity. The kids of course couldn’t care less—because, water balloons.

An alternative to water balloons is to use zip lock baggies. They can be filled out of a bucket and they are easier to pick up afterwards. The cheaper ones explode better.
How come you don’t have a roll out AstroTurf lawn?
Ouest and Lowe are getting so big! Lowe really has that young man look about him these days. Hats off to you and Ali for the most wondrous life you have created for your family! It truly is inspiring. Be well, Valerie
I agree with Valerie, the kids are getting so big! What a great life you are giving them, their little smiles are contagious! 🙂
I just received your book in the mail and have started tearing through it. Tons of good information there. I’m excited to start putting it to use and learning more as I go. My two kids and I are downsizing from a 900 sq ft apt to a 600 sq ft apartment here in Sellwood Next time you’re in Portland again we’d love to buy you pizza and beer! Thanks again for the inspiration!
I’m always amazed by this with my kids, but wow! You’ve got some Mini Mes going on there!
