Today we went back to Old Town but this time to the more sanitized version around the main plazas and the cathedral. We walked around a bit then sat down and ate. Afterwards Ali said to me, “I’m not feeling it today.” Exactly what I’d been thinking. The rougher authentic neighborhoods just a few blocks away were so much more interesting and fun. Today’s section of Old Town is the area we’ve been to in the past as well and sort of explains why we never thought too much of Mazatlan during previous visits. Oh well, now we know, when in Mazatlan get off the bus well before the cathedral and just start wandering around until lost. That’s the way to enjoy this town.
