Today was one of our beach days. Nothing was done all day other than playing on the beach and in the water. In the water takes on a whole new meaning in this strange bay. From our boat it is a hundred yards or so to water that is just barely deep enough for the dinghy. From there the bay goes inland for what must be close to a mile—a mile of knee deep or less water.
At high tide, or mid-tide like it was when we went ashore this morning, you don’t think much of it. But this afternoon when we went in at low tide it was a totally different story. A hundred yards from our boat there was now a line of exposed sand, beyond which was some shin deep water, beyond which was another line of exposed sand, beyond which was some shin deep water, and on and on for a mile. We pulled the dinghy over and around to about the third or fourth wading pool, stuck an umbrella in the sand and proceeded to spend the afternoon playing smack dab in the middle of a huge bay.
As for that big yellow truck that served us some of the best fish tacos of all time just last year, well, they’ve apparently abandoned tacos in favor of ceviche. Cue the pouty face. Such a bummer. Ceviche is fine and all, but come on, we are talking fish tacos here people.
