My niece Lea is all grown up and comparing hot Mexican guys to some guys from Vampire movies and I am feeling way old.

Some friends stopped by today, so Ouest got to play with her buddy Teddy. Teddy is five-years-old and a ball of energy. Ouest takes in every little thing he does. So when he started doing dives off the side of the pool through a big inflatable tube, you can guess what Ouest wanted to do next. And dive right through that inner tube she did. Serious full on diving through the tube, then deep under water head first, and finally a triumphant surfacing. We are six months to a year from total mayhem I would guess.

Aunt Katy is Ouest’s go-to toilet pal. Yesterday they spent so much time in one toilet that a line began to form and Ali had to go over and explain what was happening inside. Maybe in too much detail. Cousin Lea hasn’t been spared the toilet buddy treatment either. Pretty funny for a girl who screams, “Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!” every time Lowe drools.

I beat Al at cribbage yesterday in what is widely considered the greatest beat of all time. I needed a dozen points to go out, while he needed seven. I led a three, he laid a six, I laid six for four points, he laid six for six points. At this point he was sure he had it won. He only needed to peg one more point. But then I pulled out that fourth six. For twelve points and the win. He was left with his jaw on the floor. And I only relate this story here so that I can replay it for him over and over again through all the years to come.

There is a French Bakery in town now. It wasn’t here in the summer unfortunately. Seems like every touristy town in Mexico is now sprouting a French Bakery. Not that we’re complaining.

Ate at Sayulita Fish Tacos restaurant last night. A restaurant only popular because of its location and its listing in the Lonely Planet guide books. The place sucks. Tacos for thirty-five pesos. Come on. And fish tacos that aren’t even in the top five here in town. Everywhere else we’ve eaten has been great.
