As we stood on the side of the road taking pictures of Eureka, Nevada, a Bum friend who lives in town pulled up beside us. Eureka is pretty much a one road town, so we aren’t hard to spot. An hour later we were 4x4ing up mountains and exploring old mines.
We had a really fun day, climbing some crazy steep, narrow roads. Lowe would still be driving the little mine cars around if we had just left him there. He wouldn’t have cared one bit. Ouest got a kick out of climbing in and out of the truck through the window. And Ali and I got to hang out with a fun guy who has been following Bumfuzzle for many years. None of us would have ever suspected that our paths would cross in the tiny town of Eureka, Nevada.

It is an amazing and beautiful place….have driven the hills in a jeep, visited the petro glyphs, explored the old mines and driven at 100 mph plus on the deserted highways in the winter. Ran near out of gas Christmas eve and came upon a rancher who gave us enough gas to get to next town twenty five miles away…a hearty bunch
of folks live in those mountains on high desert…..love following your adventure…..
Don’t miss the hot spring at Grover Springs hot springs….you are heading straight for them…..check out the oldest bar in Nevada in Gardinerville…..you have piqued my interest in returning to Nevada…..
Yea right! The Friendliest town on the Loneliest highway in America!
The oldest bar in NV is in Genoa! Had many a beer there in our Tahoe days.
You’ve probably answered this in the past somewhere, but what camera are you using and do you know how to use HDR setting? Many of your photos would look great with HDR for absolute contrast between foreground and clouds. Just an idea. The first time I used it, I was amazed with the outcome.
Like the use of B&W in the mine. Not enough B&W being used these days.
We are in Bundaberg Australia working our butts off to get the boat cruising again after 24 break. Unfortunately your words that leaving a boat in storage is the worst use of money keeps ringing true. Next time we will just sell the boat and buy another when ready to return to cruising.
Love the photo of Ali in the jeep!
Want a clear “picture” of bliss, just look at the photo with Lowe in the driver seat of the jeep!
Wanted to make a comment On Ali’s photo in the Samurai. I must agree with Eric. I dont know if it’s because the Sami is mine or because she is just so darn pretty!
Your friend with the Jeep is my ideal kind of desert dweller, shorts and flip-flops! Wish I was there, love the desert, thanks for the photos!
That picture of the stone walls of a cabin (June11-12-1024×682) is really cool. Looks miniature, but at the same time looks real- my mind and your image playing tricks. Nice!
