We were making our way to Vegas when we stumbled across a flyer for the Clark County Fair. We had just passed the town a few minutes earlier, so we doubled back, and were happy to have come across this on its last day. We love ourselves a good county fair. Corn dogs, animals, ferris wheels, pig races, and magic shows—what could beat a day like that?
We eventually got chased out by this.

What a wonderful, stunning photo. Thanks so much for sharing your blog and pictures.
Pure fun! Great photos. Angry clouds behind a sun-drenched fair shows amazing contrast.
the top photo is some of your best work ever!
for real !!
I agree, Pat. The photo of the bright colored fair, with the dark skies beyond is stunning.
Chris LOVES the American Gothic shot!!
That clown would have me out before the weather!
Prize winning photos, really. Thanks again for sharing.
My first comment in all these years. I have to say something about the picture of the Fair with the Storm Clouds; however, there are no words of mine to do it justice. Thank you for sharing your lives and your adventures with all of us…you do feel like family.
I agree with everyone else – your lead photo is incredible! I could stare at it forever. I wish we could travel the way you do with no real plan. Somehow I always want to have reservations and a plan. I am going to try really hard this summer to travel with you as my example!
Great pictures Pat! Love them all.
Stunning shot! Prize winner. Great eye, perfect timing, beautiful frame.
Thanks, everyone. I was hustling everyone over to the midway so the kids could get their last ride in (we still had tokens) before the storm hit. Ali stopped me and said, “Get a picture of those clouds.” I looked up, saw the shot, ran back a bit to get the ferris wheel and some of that blue sky in there, snapped a quick pic off, and ran to catch up with them. Everyone got their last ride in, and we got back in the bus just before the rain. Win, win.
