Barbeque, beer, and a view. Pretty sweet spot. We spent every night like this. Ali and I aren’t accustomed to American grocery stores any more. The amazing assortment of meats kept our menu lined up for days. Brats, steaks, chops, and the list goes on.
Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park.
Walking in the Coconino National Forest, which is also the backyard of this house. The coyotes like to howl back here at night, and hunt fluffy white dogs during the day.
It’s been about three years since we’ve seen my brother, so it was great that he was able to come join us in Sedona. After he arrived I was out for a walk with Lowe and asked, “So, do you remember Uncle JJ?”
He replied, “Not really. I like him, though. He’s really talkative.”
Anyone who knows my brother would agree.
The kids also loved having someone who knows how to play Among Us. I’m terrible at it, and someone would kill me every single time I was wandering around the house trying to complete my tasks, but Uncle JJ knew what was going on and was able to give the kids a good run for their money.
Hiking Cathedral Rock. We tried to get here the day before in the late morning but were turned away because the parking lot was full. We were happy we did, because we went early the next morning and realized quickly how screwed we would have been in the noon heat. This was a fun hike. The kids liked scrambling up the rocks, and it required just enough effort to tire everyone out.
Somewhere along the climb we lost a brother. Not to worry, we found him again on the way back down.

I love Sedona. Interesting that our our next door neighbor Linda (Mildred), in Portland is our almost neighbor here in Arizona. Of course mom, is looking down on us in Payson Az. I simply love your lives.
Hi Jacquie, we are missing our Portland summer stays, but this will have to do. 😉
Plus the Portland neighborhood just isn’t the same without your mom’s bright blue house, and gorgeous flowers. I still remember the church ladies coming to cut fresh batches to display.
Oregon just isn’t the same now. Every summer for the last 4 at least, the skies have been filled with smoke from the forest fires.
Love the look your bro is giving Lowe while playing the game… don’t screw with me kid!!
That is the exact look. He is a teacher. 🙂
Good to see Josh. You boys just don’t change. Beautiful pics. Too bad that our country doesn’t get much credit for its beauty and variety of scenic places.
I am from Tucson and we had a cabin in Munds Park not far from Sedona. Depending on your type of car…try Schnebly Hill Rd from Sedona. It is a beautiful drive!
I have a whole new appreciation for Arizona after a two week birding trip to Santa Cruz and Pima counties. They have been having a great monsoon season and the landscape was as green as Ireland. Can’t wait to go back for winter birding. Your kids look so happy wherever they are and find joy in simple things like a good hike. Well done parents.
So true about your kids! We’re now in the Badlands, with many families on vacation here…..hardly a happy face to be seen among them. So sad! Such beauty & the failure to appreciate it due to squabbling among siblings-UGH! Grumpy parents too!
I enjoy following your blog in great part because of your joyful family togetherness! Keep on having fun together! 🙂
WOW! How tall Lowe has grown! Love your photos as always! I have this area on our radar for a future visit-gorgeous!
Love Sedona, went there in the early 70’s, so beautiful!
Oh, my! It looks like Lowe may soon surpass Ouest’s height, if he hasn’t already! I’ve read this blog since the very first post and it’s been a joy to see your family grow, change, adapt. Well done, Mom and Dad! I look forward to seeing what the future holds.
Be glad you aren’t in Portland this summer with extreme heat and smoke-filled skies. Nasty weather. I would rather be elsewhere!
Sedona is a great place to visit. Back in the day the best breakfast in town was at the little restaurant right by the airport. Give it a try. Robbie
Wow, that is certainly a spectacular place. Late reply as I have been in the Queensland outback for the past 13 weeks, some great spots but nothing as good as that.
