A walk around the Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción. Or the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Or just the plain old Cathedral. Completed in 1899 it’s looking as good as the day they installed the last blood-stained statue. I sincerely mean that—it really is a beautiful place. The cathedral is just two blocks from our house here, and is right across the street from the main plaza as well (as it is in darn near every town in Mexico). If the Spanish gave us one thing, it was a wonderful outline for city planning.

Funny but I think you better say 3 hail marys next time you are in church.
I just finished researching this place (and that Angela Peralta theater) for a project I’m working on. It’s the only Roman Catholic church in the world with the Star of David displayed, and repeatedly–in every one of its stained glass windows. The building construction was funded by a wealthy local Jewish family and took more than 20 years to complete. Also, the building’s massive, ornate organ was built in Paris just for this place.
Interesting! Thanks for posting, Michael.
