Our kids have grown used to Carnaval in Mazatlan over the years. So this year we had to warn them that things weren’t going to be quite that big. They asked if there would still be confetti. We weren’t sure. Candy? Mmmmmaybe. There would probably be some dancing, maybe a band, but that’s about it. And, in fact, that was about it. Pretty low key as far as Carnaval celebrations go.
Performers warming up the day before.
Ummmm, dude.
These three are ready for a party in the streets.
And here they come.
That was one seriously tired kid. Just laid right down and went to sleep while his family shopped.
Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on here.
Isla Mujeres traffic jam.
There was a show for kids in the plaza, along with a few different bouncy houses. By the time Ouest and Lowe came out of there they were fire engine red and soaked through with sweat. Exhausted and happy.

Looks like a grand time! The picture of Ouest and Pat melts my heart – what a lovely family you have. I’m a longtime reader, just moved to Rochester, MN a few years ago. I’m happy to report that the snow is melting. There’s still a lot of it, though!
Rochester, MN! Always makes me think of Little House and the Prairie, how they always called that the “big city” to see the doctors and get supplies. And yes I was able to visit (for my Grandma’s celebration) and enjoy getting more snow while there. My mom showed me a picture just 3 days later of it all melting.
Hey Pat. Just saw you (I think) driving down I-5 between Redding and Sacramento with a Uhaul and a classic car on a trailer (license said “BUMFZLE”?) It’s been a while since I read the blog, but glad to see you guys are still sharing your adventures with others. Fair winds!
Hi, Rex. Yes, that was me. I wondered if anyone would spot me on my mission. 🙂
I Second that. You guys are the most beautiful family with the most angelic kiddies.
Thanks for sharing your amazing adventures with us guys.!.
Thanks, Trenton.
And now we’re at the other end of the spectrum with the heat of July! Year two in Minnesota for my family has brought some extremes. I’ve seen some signs around town about the Lauren Ingalls Wilder Highway/Byway – as a kid, I was an avid reader of the books. I definitely need to check out the history in our area.
