Went to a flea market at the cemetery today. When we heard about this we thought, “Cool, a flea market in a cemetery.” Thus we were disappointed to find the market simply running up and down the road outside instead. As flea markets go it was about what you would expect. There was lots and lots of garage sale worthy clothing, tables full of rusting tools, copious amounts of well chewed on kids toys with missing pieces, and a stand or two selling food and drinks.
Today was some sort of special kid’s day holiday. Dia de los ninos, or some such thing. Our morning taxi driver informed us there was going to be a festival along the malecon later in the day. We got excited, thinking that there was finally going to be something to do with the kids that didn’t happen well after dark. Wrong. The kid’s festival we later found out wouldn’t be kicking off until the sun set, and really not for another hour or so after that. Seeing as both our kids are sound asleep well before the sun actually sinks below the horizon we had to let another festival pass. Damn those Mexicans (and Europeans, and Asians, and…) and their kids who stay up until two a.m.
