Beach Town Hopping

Moving from Puerto Vallarta to Melaque after a couple weeks hanging around our old stomping grounds.

Lowe had to bust open his piggy bank. Ouest bought it for him last year for his birthday. It was like a trick piggy bank, with no plug on the bottom.

Occasionally as travelers you stumble across others that you immediately click with. I always love these chance encounters, because of how genuine they are. Long-term traveling allows you to get to a point where you don’t even ask, “So, what do you do?” or “Watch anything good lately?” None of us care. It’s a very much more “in the moment” connection. We talk about our families, and our dreams, and our plans for the next three months, and beaches, and tacos, and where to get something good to eat that isn’t a taco. And our kids immediately bond, regardless of age. And all in all, it’s pretty great to have these friends. We’ve got them scattered all over the place and feel luckier for it.

La Lancha is awesome. What a beautiful place, and what fun waves. I even managed to grab a couple.

Little memorial for our friend Hermie.

Getting ready for the next move.

Campground in Melaque. Best part of traveling around Mexico this time of year is the almost complete lack of other gringos. Nothing like pulling up to a beach front camping spot and being able to sprawl out across three of them.

This place was a slice of heaven, and with a family of four at just $200 pesos.

  1. Such gorgeous photos in this entry! I especially love the one of Ouest in the rear-view mirror. Cannot believe the size of waves she can surf! You may have a professional surfer on your hands before too long. 🙂

  2. Awesome waves, we are missing them and your words are so true about when you meet others and just click.
    Also RIP Hermie!!
    Take care guys x

  3. I wish there was a “heart” button on the photos. Ouest is so fun to watch on those waves! Wondering if the recent storm effected you?
