Bangkok Temple Day

Our days were packed in Bangkok. There’s always another market, another temple, another interesting street, or more food to eat.

The obligatory tuk-tuk shot.

It appears that maybe we aren’t the only tourists in Bangkok at the moment. The Grand Palace.

Lowe has been on a boat too long. He doesn’t own any pants. At least none that fit him. So at the first temple he got to sport a brand new pair. The ladies outside the temples selling these pants for 100 baht are doing a booming business. No haggling, no wasted time, just pick a color and a size. The prints are all the same.

The Golden Buddha. Pretty hard to come to Bangkok and not come here.

Rat Arun Ratchawararam. This was an interesting place to come and people watch. On the streets outside the place were dozens of shops renting out traditional dress very inexpensively. Inside were hundreds and hundreds of people having photo shoots. It’s strange to see a temple with such a singular purpose today, completely unrelated to its original purpose.

Somtimes the public transport option just isn’t available. In which case, you get this.

Solo riders have much quicker options.

  1. WOW! What crowds! So many more people than 15 years ago when we went…the world is on the move it seems!
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos, brings back beautiful memories!
Hope you’re all well, wherever you are these days!

  2. INCREDIBLE!!! The detail and ornamentation of those temples just takes my breath away. I’m sure the Disneyesque crowds were jarring for you (and I’d have hated that), but so glad you got to see this place. I had no idea! Stay safe, y’all!
