The kids were jumping off the boat when a big shark swam by directly underneath them—a nurse shark, but still. After about five seconds they asked, “Okay, can we go again?” They weren’t about to let some dumb shark get in the way of their fun.
In George Town, the Atlantic side ocean beaches are usually empty.
With the reduction housing off I thought maybe I was still going to get off easy. Thrust bearings were on my mind, and that would be a straightforward fix.
Then I pulled off a little more. See the inside of that gear in the middle of the picture? That’s supposed to be full of teeth. The teeth are gone.
Horrible transmission news, but we can still smile.
You’re not in Wal-Mart any more, Dorothy.
Out front.
Out back.
And after dark. A whole lot of boats anchored together looks a lot prettier at night.

What kind of engines/transmissions are they? I have two different places, American Diesel, and Mid-Atlantic Diesel, which cover Ford, Perkins, and maybe some more, within an hour drive of me. If they have something you need I could pick it up and have it shipped out pretty quick. Plus I get a FedEx discount through my job 🙂
I had to Google Bahamain dollars to US dollars. OMG they are 1 to 1 which means a bag of Gold Fish snacks is $18.00 ???
Yes, they are 1 to 1. The Goldfish were a big box but still very expensive. The cost to get everything delivered to the islands from the States and no one superstore to have loads of inventory to keep the prices down.
Is that a Borg Warner Velvet Drive CR2 Transmission?
It is good that you are mechanically able. I would be completely screwed. Whenever I pick up a tool I start to bleed… Keep that smile going!
Haha! Love it 🙂
Good God! I hope those are 10 pound bags of almonds and goldfish……
Ha Ha…nope. Good thing we are only here for a few months and not living here!
Is real food as expensive? What do the residents buy, cook, and eat?
$10 for 4 tomatoes. $3.50 for 1 Kiwi. $48-70 for a case of beer. Catch your own fish and cook up some rice, and you’re okay, but add anything else and I don’t know how the locals can do it.
What do you suppose was the cause of the teeth being stripped? Would, of course, be a shame to replace the gear and have it happen again.
Most likely the shaft was out of alignment. I’ll do my best to get it straight when I install it, and then I’ll cross my fingers.
Incredible, every picture is BEAUTIFUL, even the transmission is a pretty color.
Thanks for the smile, Maureen.
Beautiful family photo! Love Ali and Ouest’s kinda-matching outfits. Was that planned or just a happy accident? I’m thinking planned, since you all have gray on top. Cute! P.S. Bahamian prices are indeed insane, but look at the views…. 🙂
No planning on the matchy-matchy outfits. The kids were in their undies after getting rinsed from the beach, and we had just finished eating dinner (as we had missed lunch as we were at the beach too long), when our friend stopped by to say they were leaving the next day and we decided to shoot a quick photo before he left. Messy hair don’t care.
Wow those prices are a shocker….Time to come back to Mexico!!! lol..
Everywhere is sticker shock after living in Mexico. It’s insane.
How tight was the nut?
Wobbly. Not tight at all.
Hi Pat I am a very long time follower and I know I am not one of you stock club people I cant afford it right now but I found this stock and I wanted to know what you think of it AMTX
THANKS
MIKE CONLOW
Hey Mike, AMTX is a $1 stock that was at $13 a couple years ago. I don’t know anything about the stock, only looked at the chart, but in my opinion it’s garbage. Any company that loses 90% of it’s market cap in a couple of years has very serious issues, and anyone pumping that stock is only doing so for personal gain. Steer clear. Unless you are the one guy with some serious insider information, you are going to lose whatever you put into it. I’ve known lots of penny stock traders in my day, and I’ve only known one who was able to make it out with serious bank. Bruce, you know I’m talking about you. 🙂
Beautiful photos as always. Sorry about the transmission woes. We also noted that even with 300 boats in the anchorage there was like 3 people over on those fabulous beaches. I’ve never been able to figure it out. That whole constellation of anchor lights at midnight are so pretty. The 2am drunk dinghy drivers looking for their boats… amusing, the first few times…
George
looking at the price on that bag and im thinking, “18.82MXN isn’t that bad”. duh. been in mexico way to long.
You can never be in Mexico way too long, man. Carry on, Baron. 🙂
