Around Penang

Heading out for a day around Penang, we started off with a quick walk through Fort Cornwallis. Our old friends, the British East India Company built the fort in the 1700s. The cool lighthouse was built in 1882 and serves no navigational purpose.

After the fort we just meandered through town from one place to the next. A few small museums, old houses, restaurants, and streets full of art.

Headed up Penang Hill in the funicular. There’s some claims of steepest in the world, but I’m finding that Malaysia is pretty liberal with these claims, and that if it’s too big a stretch to say “the world” they’ll substitute “in Malaysia” instead.

When you’re dying for some authentic Mexican food in Malaysia… this is not the place. But if you just want to devour some American tacos after a very long layoff? Yep.

Always space and time for a game of handball.

  1. I’ve always been impressed with your photography. You have a gift for capturing the essence of a place.

  2. I always enjoy how well you capture street culture! Not merely tourist attractions! These pix brought back great memories of Penang & the yummy Malaysian food.
Hope things are going well wherever you are now? Happy trails.
