Langkawi Day Out

We’ve been pretty well situated out on Rebak Island. The kids have friends they’re off with all day, and Ali and I are just plugging away on some boat projects and then spending the afternoons lounging on the beach. There really hasn’t been any reason to head across to Langkawi (a five minute boat ride away). But today we finally decided to get out and stretch our legs a bit.

The big attraction in the area is the Sky Bridge.

We arrived around opening time to find that they weren’t running yet because of high winds. The line was piling up for tickets, but Ali had purchased online and paid a couple extra bucks for some sort of express lane. So when they made the announcement that it was now open, we were the first people to the top of the mountain. Score. The hoard was close on our heels, but for a little bit we had the bridge to ourselves. Before long it’d be a wall of people from one side of the bridge to the other.

Supposedly the steepest gondola in the world. Seems unlikely to me, but it was printed on the sign, so I guess it must be true. Ali seemed to think that in a fall, holding on tight would help.

Back at the bottom, our tickets included a visit to this 3D interactive art place.

And, well, that was about it. Swing by the grocery store on the way back to the boat, and our big day out was complete. Now, back to our friends and the afternoon beach sessions.
