Key West Lighthouse

Went to see the Nutcracker. In all my years I’d never seen it, and somehow I didn’t even know it was a ballet, which I figure really establishes my credentials as a total rube. Good show, and both kids enjoyed it. That night when we talked about our favorite parts, everyone had multiple scenes they could list—so it was definitely a hit.

Goofing around. Lowe being the pirate captain and me just a lowly crew.

We try and pick a different street every time we wander through town. There’s always something interesting/unique. It’s so nice to walk through non-cookie-cutter neighborhoods where people actually let their homes reflect who they are instead of simply conforming to some norm.

Couldn’t find Santa’s Express Mail this year, but we were assured the USPS would get our letters where they needed to be.

A visit to the Key West Lighthouse. Every time we visit one we think that the life of a lighthouse keeper would have been the life for us 150 years ago.

We use teak oil on the bottom rails. The top rails haven’t been varnished since we got the boat and have held up great so far, but we really need to start tending to them if we want to keep them that way, which is why we can’t bring ourselves to varnish everything. Who has the time or energy?

Tow Boat US bringing in yet another busted down boat. I sometimes start to get the feeling that no boat can move around Key West without their assistance.

  1. We used to use a product called Flagship on our teak. It was a two or three part process but looked amazing them completed.

  2. Pat & Ali,

Noticed that you didn’t post a blog entry on Ouest’s birthday celebration this year. We tried to send Quest an e-card for her birthday to 4bums@bumfuzzle.com (Ouest Lill) but it was never picked up. We also tried to couple it with her birthday present to orders@bumfuzzle.com but we assume that went sideways too.

    1. Hi Tom and Linda, We did indeed get your card and gift! We are always a bit behind in our posts/photos/emails/and thank-yous. Your official thank you will be on its way! Merry Christmas and enjoy CR. Much love from our family.

    1. Ha. Ha. I wish. It’s my birthday today – and I would need a very large cupcake to fit all of my candles on it. Thanks for the smile, Marty.

  3. Hey Bum’s,
Marking another year of adventures, congrats! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful things in life that are special with the family. Making great memories. Our Christmas parade was with hand and foot warmers inside, not shorts and flip flops, jealous. My years on the boat as a teen were for me great memories. Cherish your time together, they go by fast.
Merry Christmas and happy new year of more adventures, where ever the wind blows you!

  4. Growing up 30mi North of the Pt. Sur (CA) Lighthouse as a child I thought the perfect job would to be its Keeper. 60 years later I believe the same.

  5. Still enjoying your adventures through all these years. God Bless and merry Christmas. All the best in 2019.
