1968 International Travelall 1100C
1968 International Travelall
Original SUV
Long before the term SUV ever came along, the International Travelall was doing the job. Two rows of bench seating (we sat four adults easily across the back seat), and enough room in the back to lie down.
Heavy Steel
This is not a wimpy plastic car, or an aluminum can—this truck was made of serious metal.
Engine
Original International 304 V8. When I bought this from the original owner it had fifty year-old hoses and wiring, and it still cruised effortlessly from New Hampshire to Minnesota in two days. I changed the hoses, fixed a couple weep plugs, added electric ignition, and drove it 20,000 miles across America and Mexico. The engine never faltered.
Ready To Go
This truck was always ready. Aside from the lack of modern conveniences like A/C and power steering, it fired up like a new car and drove down the road as effortlessly as anything they’re building today.
Picture Note:
All pictures were taken in December, 2017, and are untouched except for cropping and occasional exposure adjustments to brighten shadows. Road pictures were taken between 2016-2017.
Exterior
It’s not perfect, but at fifty-one years of age, it’s pretty darn close. Professionally polished in Spring of 2016—it shines, is water tight, and has only a few small bumps and blemishes.
Interior
Just a ton of original sixties heavy steel originality inside. Dash, headliner, seats, and floors all untouched.
